Middle School Students: Bullying and Violence Prevention

Invisible Weapons

A survey of 1,000 children, conducted by the Families and Work Institute, reveals that children in the fifth through twelfth grades fear the emotional violence of bullying more than they do physical violence. This Emmy award-winning program offers solutions to the bullying epidemic with perspectives shared by both victims and bullies.

  • Part 1

The invisible weapons of a bully are words that tease, exclude, tear down, and deliberately harm others, leaving painful, lasting scars on the victim.

  • Part 2

Sarah Nadler was bullied all through middle school and found it hard to open up to her parents about the bullying she was going through.

  • Resource Guide

The Resource Guide is a collection of lessons, parent tip sheets, discussion questions, and fact sheets on this topic.

  • Part 3

Experts say that it is important to recognize signs of bullying in victims before they take matters into their own hands and fight back with acts of violence.

  • Part 4

There are places like Camp Weloki that help kids like Alex find out ways to avoid bullying, and ways to stand up to bullies and report bullying to teachers and school administrators.
